comment from Lotus Yee Fong:
My experience with Unity and all minority associations is that large corporations are willing to sponsor because of the diversity and civil rights movements of the past creating the economic relationships of outreach and sponsorship. If you go to any minority organization’s conference, like NAACP, La Raza, Organization of Chinese Americans, etc. there are always sponsors and tables for Coca Cola, State Farm Insurance, AT&T, etc. That’s how minorities get their first jobs, etc. You could say that corporations assimilate and co-opt minorities into the mainstream, if you want to be cynical.
