The California Research Bureau and the California Homeless Youth Project (HYP) Team are proud to announce their new website. Go the website to get information and a range of policy resources on unaccompanied homeless youth, with a focus on young people in California.  And check out our project publications.

Visit the Video Wall featuring short interviews with young people who have experienced homelessness or housing instability, including our featured video:  The Street Through My Eyes: A Guided Tour. All videos were produced by NAM/YO! 2009 Summer interns.

HYP is committed to bringing youth to the policy table and to informing policymakers, opinion leaders, and other stakeholders about the needs of unaccompanied homeless youth. It is a California Research Bureau research and policy initiative conducted in collaboration with the California Council on Youth Relations, a project of New America Media, and funded by The California Wellness Foundation.

NAM Journalism on Aging Fellowship

DEADLINE: August 2, 2010

New America Media (NAM) and the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), in conjunction with Journalists Network on Generations proudly announce that journalists can now submit proposals for a fellowship to attend GSA's 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting in New Orleans, in November. Thanks to a grant from the MetLife Foundation to bring 14 journalists to the conference.

Selected journalists will receive a $1,500 stipend for their proposed projects, as well as expenses for attend the GSA conference. Each Fellow will participate in a special day-long preconference session on Friday, Nov. 19, and at least two days of GSA conference sessions.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: The Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship program is designed for mid-career journalists who want to deepen their knowledge of psychological trauma and improve coverage of violence, conflict and tragedy.The fellowship covers all travel and ground expenses. The California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowships at USC's Annenberg School of Journalism provide California journalists with an opportunity to gain insights into community health issues and to learn multimedia reporting skills during two four-day sessions in Los Angeles October 21-24, 2010 and January 20-23, 2011. South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) and Race/Ethnicity: Multidisciplinary Global Contexts are calling for submissions that are reflections, critiques, and analysis on how the way we think about race, religion, etc has been change by 9/11. The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is offering a $25,000 stipend and half the tution for graduate study in the US for applicants 30 and younger who are either a resident alien, someone who has been naturalized as a US citizen, or the child of a US naturalized parent. NAM Directory of Ethnic Media and Other Announcements
Fellowships

New America Media has updated and expanded the NAM Online Directory of Ethnic Media, the largest database of ethnic print, radio, TV and online media in the US. It now includes 3,000 media outlets, searchable by city, state, ethnicity, language and media type.
