Apply now for AIR’s New Voices Scholarships

Hey folks. Great opportunity here to attend PRPD with a scholarship from AIR. I'm going to this conference for the first time and would love to meet up with any AIR or Freelance Cafe folks who might be there. Drop me a line if you're going! Details about the scholarship below.

As AIR’s network expands (our year-over-year growth increased 73 percent in the first half of 2015), we are working to open the golden age of talent — and its opportunities — to a diverse, inclusive range of media makers.

AIR’s New Voices scholarships (http://airmedia.org/programs/new-voices-scholarships/) are available for those who can contribute fresh craft, diversity or perspective to the network and media.

If you are, or if you know, someone who can help make public media more inclusive, apply or help us spread the word (https://airmedia.wufoo.com/forms/airs-2015-new-voices-scholarship/).

The scholarship brings new talent to industry gatherings — this year, to the Public Radio Program Directors' conference in Pittsburgh (http://www.prpd.org/conference/2015.aspx) — where they will find a peer support network, opportunities to meet industry leaders, and chances to share their interests, concerns and work.

WE SEEK: Creative makers from all corners of the country who are new to public media. You do not have to be an AIR member to apply (https://airmedia.wufoo.com/forms/airs-2015-new-voices-scholarship/).

WE OFFER: New Voices scholars receive up to $1,500 in funding to subsidize the costs of attending the conference. They gain access to the PRPD Conference and additional New Voices only programming in Pittsburgh, as well as access to the New Voices alumni network.

DEADLINE: Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 at 5 p.m. PT. Applications that are not completed at 5 p.m. will not be saved and cannot be considered.

CONFERENCE DETAILS: PRPD convenes program directors, reporters, editors, producers and managers for conversation about where public media is and where it can go. Read full conference details at the PRPD website (http://www.prpd.org/conference/2015.aspx).

MORE: Seven years of New Voices alumni include some of the most interesting, sought-after talent rising in public media. They’re working at the network and station levels and as independents, domestic and international.

Please read through the New Voices FAQ (http://airmedia.org/programs/new-voices-scholarships/) in its entirety before completing the application.
