10058459 — Chief Photographer/Photo Editor

This photographer organizes and provides photographic coverage of spot
news, enterprise, sports and entertainment, primarily in Spain but
also in the region as required. This person works closely with the
Regional Photo Editor in London and bureau text and TV staff to ensure
planning and coverage of hard and soft news in Spain and Portugal. He
or she generates projects that add a dimension beyond the daily
report. The incumbent manages as small team of staff photographers and
helps develop and maintain a network of freelancers as well. The
photographer covers assignments in the Iberian peninsula as required.
International travel is a required part of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All candidates must have superior news judgment and the photographic
skills to provide high level coverage competitively from this
important area in Europe, plus a demonstrated ability to generate
strong photos beyond scheduled assignments. Skills include a sharp
sense of photo composition, the ability to compose as events unfold
and tell a story photographically.

Creativity is critical, as well as the ability to meet deadlines. The
photographer must be able to shoot sport to a high level to provide
competitive coverage of the many international sports events in Spain.
The applicant must be able to edit digital images and transmit using
appropriate technology. Proficiency in writing captions that are
accurate and informative is essential. Multimedia skills are a plus.
This person must be self-motivated and well-organized, with the
flexibility to juggle priorities; good planning skills are essential.
He or she must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
The candidate must be eager and able to work as part of a team and to
also work effectively independently.

Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English
language is required as well as a good working knowledge of Spanish.
The successful candidate must be willing and able to work in a 24/7
news environment. The selected candidate must be able to obtain legal
authorization to work in Spain if not currently authorized to do so.
