Inspired by similar events around the country, Freelance Café is hosting a "Sonic Soirée" on Tuesday, May 18 at Sandbox Suites (123 10th Street in San Francisco) from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. If you have a story to share, just bring a CD to play for the group, either a work-in-progress or a finished piece. Beginner or pro, you are encouraged to come and present your work in radio–audience members will provide feedback on your piece. If you just want to hear some great stories, you are welcome to come just to listen as well! Pizza and wine will be served–suggested donation is $5 but no one will be turned away.

Leading the workshop will be David Dunaway, author, national radio producer ("Across The Tracks: A Route 66 Story" and "Pete Seeger" on PRI). David is a new Professor of Radio at the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Program of San Francisco State University (www.davidkdunaway.com). He worked at KPFA as Unpaid Staff for more than a decade.
