We’re excited to announce a new audio grant we are co-presenting with Gilded Audio! Celebrating creative work that synthesizes audio documentary and experimental sound design, The Signal to Noise Award will support one applicant in pursuing their project or series.
Due on June 28th and open to all styles of production, the award includes: $5000 for production, plus production consultation and technical support from Gilded Audio Design, editorial consultation from the staff of UnionDocs, and a celebratory event at the UnionDocs space in Brooklyn.

Catherine Girardeau is currently a Senior Producer with Slate.com, producing a podcast with author/journalist Michael Lewis (Moneyball, The Big Short) about fairness and the people who try to enforce it. She's also worked with Depict.com, the Stanford Storytelling Project, APM's Marketplace, KALW, and PRI's The World.

In this class, Catherine teaches you the ins and outs of how top-tier podcasts are developed, researched, written, and produced. You'll learn interviewing methods, audio editing basics, use of archival audio, miking and field recording techniques. By the end of the class, you'll have a solid outline of your pilot episode and a recording of your show teaser.
